With three locations in California, Yumi Yogurt is a classic frozen yogurt franchise dating back to the 1980s. Yumi specializes in traditional soft serve frozen yogurt and has gained a reputation for its heaping portions.

Types

While certain specialized flavors tend to rotate on a daily basis (like Ube Coconut Purple Cream Cake and Turmeric Golden Milk Cup), Yumi’s basic varieties remain Chocolate, Vanilla and Peanut Butter. Other popular flavors include Gingerbread and Pumpkin Pie.

Yumi also offers Carbolite and Wow Cow brand yogurts in such flavors as Cookies & Cream and Coffee Caramel Nut. The company regularly updates their Twitter and Facebook pages, so you can see which flavors will be at a given location.

Calories

On average, some calorie trackers report that a one cup serving of frozen yogurt contains upwards of 200 calories, depending on your flavor of choice, not to mention any add-ins or toppings.

Nutrition

The same one-cup serving of frozen yogurt provides upwards of 37 grams of carbohydrates, four grams of dietary fiber, 33 grams of sugar and five grams of protein.

The American Heart Association recommends that women consume 25 grams of sugar or less a day, and men consume 38 grams of sugar or less a day. If you're a frozen yogurt fan, you might consider making this an occasional treat as opposed to an everyday staple.

If you're looking for a sweet, frozen treat, you can always opt for putting low-fat yogurt in the freezer. Or try one of these delicious frozen treats under 200 calories.
