Ear acupressure for losing weight provides a natural and gentle way that may help you decrease your appetite, release endorphins, relax, and reduce your food cravings and temptations to eat. Your ear contains a microsystem of points affecting all major body parts and organs throughout your entire your body, according to licensed acupuncturist Diane Joswick, of Del Mar, California. Since acupressure may not be suitable for your individual condition, check with your doctor first.

Finger Squeeze

Ear acupressure for losing weight can be applied to the fleshy point of your ear, which acts as a natural appetite suppressant point. Find the acupoint by opening and closing your jaw. Take your right index finger and feel to find the point where your jaw moves the most. Move your index finger toward your ear and you will feel a fleshy protrusion in front of the ear canal. Place this fleshy protrusion between your right index finger and thumb. Apply gentle pressure for eight seconds. Release the pressure and relax 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise five times. Do the exercise again with your left ear and hand.

Bead Press

Increasing your level of eating self-discipline will help with losing weight. You can better control your cravings by fooling your hypothalamus into believing you are full. Do this by locating an acupoint located behind your ear. Sit upright in a firm chair with your feet firmly planted on the floor. Find a small bead and hold it between your right index finger and thumb. Place this bead behind your ear. Apply gentle pressure onto the bead and hold this pressure for 10 seconds. Release the pressure and relax 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise five times. Do the exercise again using your left ear. You may want to tape the bead in place and massage it in 10-second increments throughout the day, according to licensed acupuncturist and herbalist Joey Komada, of Torrance, California.

Finger Press

Pressing on an ear acupressure point can be accomplished without relying on any equipment or beads. Apply your left index finger to the point behind your ear, in the small crease where your ear lobe meets the hard point of your ear. Use your left index finger to gently press on this point. Hold this pressure for eight seconds. Release the pressure. Relax 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise five times. Do the exercise again using your right hand and ear.

Cartilage Press

Locating and using another appetite control point that is found on the inner portion of your ear might help with losing weight, according to Indianetzone.com. Stand facing a mirror and locate the cartilage that is just above the fleshy protrusion. The cartilage will run parallel to your ear lobe. For your right ear, take your right index finger and place it onto the cartilage. Gently press this cartilage for 10 seconds. Release the tension and relax 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise five times. Do the exercise again using your left ear and hand.
