Active knee extension stretching. Hi, I'm Tanya Eberhardt and this is active knee extension stretching. Active stretches require you to contract one set of muscles while stretching the other. So, active knee extension stretches will require you to retract your quadricep promoting quadricep muscle endurance, and lengthen your hamstring muscles. Step forward with the right leg and back with the left leg, about two to three feet wide. Bring your hands to your hips, inhale, lift the chest, exhale, hinge at your hips, over the right leg. Bring the fingertips to your floor. If you can't reach the floor, on to the block. You wanna lift and spread the toes and engage the quadriceps. So, you don't want the quadriceps soft because that's passive. You wanna engage and lift the kneecap, engage the quadriceps to make this stretch active. Exhale, fold, over the right leg. For a deeper stretch, walk the hands back and reach the crown of the head towards the toes. On the exhale, engage your abdominals and deepen into your leg. Inhale, hands to the hips, abs are engaged, brings you all the way up. You wanna hold that pose for six long and deep breaths on each side, the right leg and the left leg. Inhale deeply and exhale slowly.
