Pan dulce, also known as pan de huevo, is a type of sweet roll from Mexico and Central America. Derived from the French influences of the 1800s, pan dulce now comes in many varieties and is commonly served at breakfast. The bread is typically lightly sweetened and often topped with a decorative sugar coating. Pan dulce is rich in calories, primarily from carbohydrates and sugar.

A medium-sized pan dulce roll without the sugar topping weighs around 2.6 oz. or 76 g. Carbohydrates make up around 42 g of that measure, of which just over 13 g are sugar. Proteins contribute just over 5 g and fats just under 5 g per serving. Around 23 g of the roll are water and dietary fiber makes up 1.2 g. With the sugar topping, the same size pan dulce roll weighs 93 g with 52 g of carbs and almost 21 g of sugar.
