The new smoothie will be available September 7, and indulging in one won’t be quite as damaging to your diet as another perennially popular fall beverage — Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte.

According to Delish, Jamba Juice’s 16-ounce new pumpkin smoothie contains 280 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, 29 grams of sugar and 23 grams of protein. While still high in sugar, it’s definitely a much healthier option than the latte. And the ingredients might make you love it even more: The smoothie is a blend of almond milk, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, chia seeds and whey protein.

Meanwhile, a Starbucks 16-ounce (or Grande, for you Starbucks purists) Pumpkin Spice Latte made with 2 percent milk and topped with whipped cream comes in at 380 calories, 14 grams of fat, 50 grams of sugar and 14 grams of protein. Basically, it’s not just your morning coffee — it’s dessert. To make it a little healthier you could opt for almond milk or nonfat milk and hold the whipped cream, but isn’t that what makes this sweet beverage so delicious in the first place?

Smoothie King also has a pumpkin spice smoothie, according to its website, made of all-natural pumpkin spiced puree, nonfat milk, vanilla protein blend, frozen yogurt, immune enhancer and turbinado. While the calories and fat are similar to Jamba Juice’s smoothie, this version is loaded with sugar — 69 grams for a 20-ounce serving — and only offers 10 grams of protein. A healthier version made with Chobani Greek yogurt is also available and is significantly healthier all the way around.

If you want to make your own version at home, here are some great healthy smoothies!
