Goldie Hawn is one of those women who looks significantly younger than her age: At 71, she could seriously be confused for someone decades younger. The star recently revealed what she does to look and feel great, and her method involves a whole lot of greens and constant movement.
“It’s not a secret,” she told reporters at a recent event. “I try to drink my juices. I try to work out every day a little bit. I find moments in the day. I have short meditation spurts during the day, if I don’t have a long one in the morning, which sometimes the phone rings and you’re off and running, but I do find time to get quiet. I hike. I bike. I try to have as much fun as possible.”
In addition to daily juices, meditation and exercise, another reason her body looks bangin’ (even when she is too busy to squeeze in full-on workouts) is because she has been dancing most of her life. “I’m a dancer, so I can’t stop moving,” Hawn said. “I guess maybe that’s what I’m talking about.”
If you are curious about what Kate Hudson’s mom eats during the day, it’s not a whole lot. “I think we overeat,” she told People in 2016 about her food habits. She likes to keep her meals light and simple and supplements with a lot of liquids. “I do a lot of juicing. I don’t put a lot of food in my stomach, and I don’t mix my foods too much. So if I want to have, like, protein, I’ll just eat a bowl of lentils. I won’t mix it with a bunch of stuff.”
She explained to Self that her go-to breakfast is — wait for it — green juice! A typical lunch would involve a green salad and broccolini, which is later followed by a dinner of watercress soup and green beans with fish. Her favorite healthy snack is kale chips. And if she feels like indulging, it will likely be in the form of truffle fries.
Is Hawn’s green obsession healthy? Science says yes. In addition to containing many of the vitamins and nutrients recommended daily, studies have supported that the veggie-filled concoction can help with everything from lessening the risk of diabetes to improving cholesterol. It can also help with weight control and intestinal health because it is high in fiber, low in carbohydrates and has a low glycemic index.
Hawn’s daughter is also into healthy eating, recently admitting that she achieved the best skin ever by ditching dairy and animal products. “When I went vegan last summer, my skin was the best it’s ever been — skin tone, pores, everything.” she told Vogue. “Then I did Paleo, and what was interesting about Paleo was my skin wasn’t as good, but your weight drops.”
