You’d never guess Goldie Hawn’s age. In fact, she could seriously be confused for someone decades younger than 73. The star recently revealed her age-defying tips for looking and feeling great—and they involve a whole lot of greens and near-constant movement.
"I try to drink my juices. I try to work out every day a little bit," she told reporters at a red-carpet event late last year. "I find moments in the day. I have short meditation spurts during the day, if I don’t have a long one in the morning, which sometimes the phone rings and you’re off and running, but I do find time to get quiet. I hike. I bike. I try to have as much fun as possible."
One more reason her body looks so trim (even when she’s too busy to squeeze in full-on workouts) is because she’s been dancing most of her life. “I’m a dancer, so I can’t stop moving,” Hawn said. “I guess maybe that’s what I’m talking about.”
So what does Kate Hudson’s mom eat during the day? Perhaps unsurprisingly, not a whole lot. “I think we overeat,” Hawn told People in 2016 about her food habits. She likes to keep her meals light and simple, and she supplements with a lot of liquids. “I do a lot of juicing. I don’t put a lot of food in my stomach, and I don’t mix my foods too much. So if I want to have, like, protein, I’ll just eat a bowl of lentils. I won’t mix it with a bunch of stuff.”
Hawn explained to Self that her go-to breakfast is — wait for it — green juice. A typical lunch would involve a green salad and broccolini, which is later followed by a dinner of watercress soup and green beans with fish. Her favorite healthy snack is kale chips. And if she feels like indulging, it will likely be with an order of truffle fries.
But is Hawn’s green juice obsession healthy? Science says yes. The veggie-filled concoction is packed with vitamins and nutrients, and studies have suggested that it can help with many things, from lessening the risk of diabetes to improving cholesterol. And because it's high in fiber, low in carbs and has a low glycemic index, it may also help you control your weight weight.
Hawn’s daughter is also into healthy eating, recently admitting her skin looked its best ever after she ditched dairy and animal products. “When I went vegan last summer, my skin was the best it’s ever been — skin tone, pores, everything.” she told Vogue. “Then I did Paleo, and what was interesting about Paleo was my skin wasn’t as good, but your weight drops.”
