Bananas can be eaten as a snack or paired with many healthy dishes, such as oatmeal, cereal or whole wheat bread and peanut butter. One small banana counts as half a cup of fruit. The recommended amount of fruit you should consume daily depends on age, sex and physical activity. Most adult women need 1 1/2 cups, and most men need 2 cups.
