How to Heat Frozen Stuffed Baked Potatoes

Stuffed baked potatoes take considerable time and energy to make. Bake them once to cook the potato, and bake them again to heat the stuffing inside the potato shell, which is usually whipped potatoes, sour cream or plain yogurt, cheese, bacon and seasonings. Fortunately, stuffed baked potatoes freeze well. You can make your own and freeze them for up to one month or purchase stuffed baked potatoes already frozen. On a busy weeknight, transfer frozen stuffed baked potatoes to your microwave or oven or heat them alongside food you cook on your grill.

Microwave Heating

Step 1.

Arrange up to four frozen potatoes around the edges of a round, microwave safe dish.

Step 2.

Cover the potatoes with plastic wrap, leaving one corner free for venting heat and steam.

Step 3.

Set your microwave oven to high and the timer according to the number of potatoes you are heating. Cook one frozen stuffed baked potato for two to four minutes. For each additional potato, increase cooking time by about two to three minutes. Rotate the potatoes halfway through the cooking time if your microwave oven does not have a rotating turntable.

Step 4.

Remove the potatoes when a food thermometer inserted into the middle indicates their internal temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Oven Heating

Step 1.

Heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2.

Arrange the potatoes on a baking sheet, leaving a space between each potato to allow for proper heat circulation.

Step 3.

Bake the potatoes until they turn a golden brown color and a food thermometer inserted into the middle indicates their internal temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit This will take about 40 minutes.

Grill Heating

Step 1.

Set each frozen potato on a sheet of aluminum foil, bringing the foil up along the sides of the potato but not over the top.

Step 2.

Set the potatoes on your grill and close the grill cover.

Step 3.

Heat the potatoes for 35 to 45 minutes, until a food thermometer indicates their internal temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
