Achieving both flavor and tenderness with your beef short ribs is often a labor of love. In addition to seasonings, vegetables are often used to help develop these flavors. However, by using oven bags you can achieve these goals in a short amount of time and with minimal cleanup.

Rinse the short ribs with cool water. Rub your hands over each side of the short ribs to remove any residual debris.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Combine salt, black pepper and garlic powder to make a seasoning.

Sprinkle each side of the short ribs with the seasoning and the flour. Place the short ribs in the oven baking bag.

Chop the onions into small pieces. This helps them cook quickly and helps them better infuse into the flavor of the short ribs. If you wish, mince mushrooms and add them to the baking bag as well.

Add the onions to the baking bag with 2 tbsp. of your seasoning and the beef broth or water.

Use the closure to seal the bag and place it into a casserole dish. Place the short ribs in the oven and cook for approximately two hours.

Remove the short ribs from the oven when they are done cooking. Let the short ribs sit for approximately 10 minutes. Make a slit in the baking bag and pour the short ribs into the casserole dish and serve.
