According to Peter D’Adamo, if you have a B blood type, you are likely to have a strong immune system and are, therefore, particularly resistant to illness. Your digestive system is also likely to be highly tolerant to most foods, says the "Eat Right For Your Type" website. However, D’Adamo says that type Bs can be more vulnerable than other blood types to diabetes and autoimmune disorders, such as chronic fatigue, lupus, and multiple sclerosis. So when it comes to exercise, this blood type functions best with moderate activities that have a mental element, such as hiking, cycling, tennis and swimming.
Foods For B Blood Types
The blood type diet recommends that people with B negative blood eat a diet rich in fruit and vegetables, eggs, low-fat dairy products and meat, such as goat, lamb, mutton, rabbit and venison, but avoiding chicken and bacon, says "Eat Right For Your Type." These two meats contain substances that affect your blood and may increase your risk of strokes and immune disorders. Other foods to avoid are corn, wheat, buckwheat, lentils, tomatoes, peanuts and sesame seeds. This is because they can prevent your metabolism from functioning effectively and therefore lead to fatigue and fluid retention, and cause a sharp drop in blood sugar after a meal. By eating the right foods for your blood type, it is said that you can lose weight and reduce the effects of food allergies.
There is very little scientific evidence that the blood type diet works any better than any other diet, says the Weight Loss Resources website. You will lose weight because whole food groups, such as breads and cereals, are drastically reduced or eliminated. However, this also means that in the long-term you can become deficient in essential vitamins and minerals. Ultimately, there is no magic cure for weight. A healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise are the best options for safe and sustained weight loss.
