Choosing an exercise plan can be a daunting task. The National Institutes of Health suggests talking to your doctor about your health before you decide which program might work best for you.

Video of the Day

ChaLEAN Extreme is a set of 15 workouts focused primarily on weight, circuit and cardiovascular training. The program's trainer, Chalene Johnson, does not identify an exact number of calories burned while using her workouts; however, she does guarantee users will lose up to 60 percent of their body fat within three months.

Calories Burned While Weightlifting

The ChaLEAN Extreme workouts are between 30 and 45 minutes long. For a person weighing 150 lbs., the approximate number of calories burned while performing moderate-intensity weightlifting for this amount of time is 214.

Calories Burned While Circuit Training

Circuit training is weightlifting and cardiovascular training combined. A 150-lb. person who performs 30 minutes of circuit training would burn approximately 286 calories.

Calories Burned While Cardio Training

The cardiovascular, or aerobic, training of ChaLEAN Extreme includes plyometrics, kickboxing-style moves and stretching. A vigorous 30-minute aerobic workout for a person who weighs 150 lbs. would burn approximately 250 calories.
